Sound comes to life in 3D

Sound comes to life in 3D

Smart TV Microsite

Your world of entertainment from blockbuster movies to action-packed games, is about to reach new heights. The Samsung Blu-ray home entertainment system, which integrates 3D Surround Sound with 3D pictures, is the ultimate entertainment set-up. It makes you feel a part of every scene. Samsung's proprietary 3D Sound Plus technology that integrates Vertical & Horizontal Surround and 3D Depth Sound Effects bring amazing audio depth and clarity that is utterly delightful. It is entertainment like you have never experienced before, and is definitely worth getting excited about.

3D Depth Sound

3D Depth

3D Depth Sound is the core value of Samsung’s proprietary 3D Sound technology. The main benefit is that sound comes out in front of you to match the 3D picture of the TV. It provides a customised effect by controlling the depth of 3D Sound.

3D depth sound effect scan be controlled at 3 levels: Min, Normal, Max.

Vertical Surround Sound

Swivel Head Speaker

With vertical surround sound, no longer is sound limited to left-right but it also provides an up and down surround sound to enhance a realistic and immersive sound experience.

Samsung’s built-in Swivel Head Speaker provides an easy way to create the effect of vertical surround sound. You can rotate the speaker head up and down to optimise the vertical surround sound effect. The higher the height of the Swivel Head Speaker, the better the vertical surround sound effect.

3D Sound Plus

3D Sound Plus

Samsung's 3D Sound Plus consists of the three main components, horizontal surround sound, 3D depth sound and Vertical surround. So everything you see in 3D, you now hear in 3D. 3D Sound Plus is only available on HT-D6750W.

Premium Sound

Premium Sound

Samsung's Premium sound is truly out of this world. The Crystal Clear Amp minimises annoying distortions through multi-feedback and delivers virtually original sound, while the specifically designed Wideband with Super Tweeter with Wideband Amp adds new levels of audio bliss with its high pitch sound capabilities. And finally the Radiator subwoofer, which is enclosed without air vent holes, produces strengthened low pitch sounds and reduced distortion for unbelievable results. It's and audio experience that will breathe life into your home entertainment.

Blu-ray 3DSupports playback of 3D Blu-ray Disc, non-3D Blu-ray discs, DVD and CDs.

Reviews Samsung HT-D6750W

Samsung HT-D6750W

Gone are the days when home theatre systems simply delivered 5.1 channels of sound; this Samsung system does much, much more than that.

Design and features

This system's feature list is about as long as it gets with current home theatre gear, so we'll concentrate on the main ones. The HT-D6750W is essentially an all-in-one BD system, capable of playing back 3D Blu-ray software as well as incorporating Samsung's latest 3D sound signal processing and loudspeaker technology. It comprises the BD head unit, two pairs of column speakers, a small centre channel speaker and a passive subwoofer. The rear speakers are driven wirelessly with an accompanying transmitter/receiver, and the main front columns feature "vertical surround", which is an additional driver that can be angled upwards, reflecting sound off the ceiling and providing the so-called "3D sound" modus operandi...

Conclusions

By far, this system's biggest appeal is its vast array of networking and streaming features. Gone are the days when home theatre systems simply delivered 5.1 channels of sound; this Samsung system does much, much more than that. Picture quality is superb, the 3D sound works, but a weak subwoofer and fizzy treble let it down, sonically speaking.

Companies unite to creata universal 3D glasses

Companies Unite in active glasses partnership

Three of the major consumer electronics companies – Samsung, Sony and Panasonic – have joined forces to create universal 3D TV active shutter glasses.

The aim is to agree on and standardise the 3D active glasses technology which can be used across a range of products including TVs, projectors and computers.

At present the 3D glasses from one TV will not work on a competitor’s TV – a factor that's hindered 3D TV market growth in Australia.

But that will be a thing of the past when the protocols are made available in 2012 with a view to also make them backwards compatible with 2011 3D TVs.

The initiative will also include technology developed between Panasonic and Xpand 3D.

Active shutter glasses allow viewers to experience 3D movies in full high definition to be displayed for each eye.

At present active 3D shutter glasses stay in sync with the TV using either infra-red or Bluetooth.

Samsung said: “Today’s announced collaboration underscores Samsung’s promise to meet consumer needs among the ever-changing advancements of home entertainment and consumer electronics technology,” said Jurack Chae, vice president, R&D Team, Visual Display Business, Samsung Electronics.

“To-date, active 3D technology has proven to be the most popular choice for consumers in the 3D TV market. According to the NPD Group, Active 3D technology took an average of 96 percent share of the US 3D TV market in the first half of this year; and this full HD 3D Glasses Initiative will help further drive consumer adoption and understanding of active 3D—the technology that provides the clearest and most immersive 3D experience available.”

Panasonic said: “Panasonic has been working to standardize 3D glasses technologies, and in March, we announced a joint licensing of IR system protocols with XPAND, backed by several participant companies.

“We are very pleased that today’s latest collaboration will incorporate our previous concept into these new standardization efforts,” said Masayuki Kozuka, general manager of Media & Content Alliance Office, Corporate R&D Division, Panasonic Corporation.

“We hope the expanded collaboration on this 3D standardisation initiative will make a significant contribution toward accelerating the growth of 3D-related products.”

Sony added: “Through this alliance, we all look forward to addressing critical industry issues to enable a better consumer experience across products.

“We believe active 3D technology is the most suitable method to deliver full 1080p picture quality to each eye, giving consumers the 3D experience they most desire,” said Jun Yonemitsu, deputy senior general manager, Home Entertainment Development Division, Sony Corporation.

LG is not a part of this consortium because it has decided to go down the passive 3D glasses path with its latest Cinema 3D televisions.

While LG’s 3D glasses do not require power and are much lighter, the downside is they cannot provide full high definition 3D viewing.

Samsung welcomes In A new Era Of Smart TV

Smart TVLiên kết

Samsung pioneers SMART TV in Australia, unveiling its new range of connected TVs that offer social networking, web browsing, 3D and access to a world of content via a TV apps store.

SYDNEY, Australia – April 6, 2011 - Samsung Electronics Australia today unveiled its new range of SMART TVs and Home Platform solutions, paving the way for a new era of immersive and interactive entertainment delivered through these connected TVs. Samsung's new SMART TV range showcases breakthrough innovations in design, engineering and advanced interactive and connectivity capabilities.

With the introduction of Samsung's 2011 portfolio of audio visual products, Samsung is redefining SMART. SMART TV embodies the latest innovations in four key areas; design, picture quality, next generation 3D technology and Samsung's unique 'Smart Hub1' offering.

Samsung SMART TV is a connected TV, offering full web browsing, communication through social media such as Facebook, Twitter and Skype2, plus on demand content delivered through the world's first HD TV apps store, Samsung Apps. To coincide with the range launch, exciting new local content is also being released soon including BigPond AFL Game Analyser, ABC iView and BigPond Movies.

Smart Hub: A Truly Connected TV Experience

For 2011, Samsung SMART TVs will offer richer connected entertainment experiences through one of the most comprehensive offerings of apps and connectivity options. All SMART TVs will offer Samsung's new Smart Hub, which features:

  • Web Browser - full Flash-supported web browsing right on your TV, and all while you continue to watch your show or movie
  • Social TV - join in conversations on Twitter, Facebook and Google Talk from your TV screen while you watch your favourite TV program or movie with picture in picture support
  • Samsung Apps - the world's first HDTV-based application store which offers a range of apps that help people connect to their various passions – whether sports, entertainment, information, games or social networking. Local apps available now and coming soon include BigPond Game Analyser, BigPond Movies, BigPond TV, a suite of NineMSN apps and ABC iView
  • Search All - making it easy to search for desired content on your TV and other DLNA-certified devices, networked PCs and mobile devices, plus Internet and video-on-demand services
  • Your Video - which delivers movie recommendations based on a user's viewing history

Select models of the new SMART TV range will also feature built in Wi-Fi connectivity. To enable text input onto the screen when tweeting or browsing the internet, Samsung has reinvented the remote control. The new remote offers traditional TV controls on one side, however when flipped over it reveals a full QWERTY keyboard.

Design: Samsung SMART TV Takes Home Entertainment to the Very Edge

In 2011, Samsung has redesigned the TV screen by making the bezel, which until now had traditionally framed the TV, virtually disappear to provide a more immersive viewing experience for the user. Samsung's new ultra-narrow bezel design, called One Design, has influenced its flagship LED televisions for 2011 – the Series 8 (D8000) and Series 7 (D7000) LED TVs both offering a bezel that is just 5mm wide.

The Samsung Series 8 Plasma TV (D8000) showcases Samsung's breakthrough Plasma+1 design which features a new narrow bezel so consumers get more viewable screen size without increasing the outside dimensions of the TV. This means that a traditional 58-inch plasma now has 59-inches of viewable screen.

3D: The Third Dimension of a SMART TV

As the Australian market leader in 3D technology, Samsung has refined its 3D technologies in the 2011 range of smart audio visual solutions. As the popularity of 3D continues to grow and the availability of 3D content increases, Samsung remains committed to industry-leading 3D performance across all smart audio visual solutions. More than half of the 2011 models will offer 3D technology, so more people can enjoy the rapidly growing 3D content. Samsung has also completely redesigned its 3D glasses, offering the world's lightest 3D active shutter glasses.

Select Samsung 3D Blu-ray players and Home Theatres will offer Samsung's proprietary 3D convertor, which enables consumers to convert 2D content into 3D with the push of a button.

Finally, Samsung's next-generation home theatre system features '3D Sound' that syncs audio and video to create an immersive experience in which the sound 'moves' with the 3D picture.

Picture Quality: Smart Enhancements in 2D, 3D, HD and Streamed Content

Both Samsung's new Plasma and LED TVs offer advances across the board in delivering superior picture quality. Picture quality is driven by the three “C's” – colour, contrast and clarity.

In Plasma, Samsung has continued to fine tune its panel technology to include a Real Black Filter which reduces the on-screen glare to produce darker blacks and sharper images, and Clear Image Panel which increases the viewing angle and improves the crispness of the image compared with older versions of Samsung products.

In LED, new Ultra Clear Panel technology is designed to increase the contrast ratio by efficiently absorbing external light and effectively reducing reflection, providing real, natural colour and deep, dynamic detail. Wide Colour Enhancer Plus is an improvement of Samsung's long-standing colour luminance technology. Natural colour reproduction is possible due to luminance levels being considered through 3D colour mapping. Wide Colour Enhancer Plus produces the colour as the broadcast intended, limits over-saturation and produces a natural looking image.

Finally, Digital Noise Filter is a feature designed to maximise picture quality by removing the digital 'noise' that sometimes appears on screen. It is useful in areas of poor reception or when watching an analogue broadcast, where the digital noise filter will compensate to reduce the digital artifacts that are created. The result is clear analogue programming with sharp details that looks as if it is being broadcast digitally.

Samsung has also introduced a new standardised motion clarity measurement known as Clear Motion Rate (CMR). CMR is a combination of panel refresh rate, video processing chipset and the backlight technology which together controls how clear, or blur-free, a moving picture is on screen.

The Samsung 2011 audio visual range encompasses a wide range of home entertainment solutions including 41 TV models in total, offering the latest innovations in LED (25 models), Plasma (10 models) and LCD (6 models) screen technology. 24 models offer Full HD 3D technology while 22 are classified as SMART TVs.

1 Smart Hub: Certain advertised Smart Hub features, applications and services may not be available on all devices or in all territories. Some Smart Hub features may require additional peripheral devices sold separately, or additional fees, including internet connection fees. Smart Hub services and availability of content may change from time to time, without notice. Visit www.samsung.com.au/tv for more information.
2 Skype: Audio and visual calls require the use of a FreeTalk Skype Camera which is sold separately and is not included with the TV purchase.

Sony, Samsung, Panasonic and XpanD will create an active 3D glasses standard

3D glasses different brands
3D TV models currently on the market utilize each one different 3D glasses that works only for their own brand. XpanD tried to break this stigma by offering their Xpand Universal X103 3D glasses, but it wasn’t enough to remedy this situation.
TV makers are being faced by 3D TV’s sluggish sales so they are starting to partnering with each other to find a solution and help the consumer in their choice. For this, they will begin with the 3D glasses.
Sony, Panasonic, Samsung and XpanD announced the Full HD Glasses Initiative that will bring a standard format for 3D glasses using active shutter technology and that communicates to the TV via IR or Bluetooth. They should be backwards compatible with the 3D TVs of 2011, but older models from 2010 are out of luck…
I’ve included the press release after the break. These 3D glasses should start appearing next year.
