Prior to the show, DTInews was on the stage, talking with some of the contestants about how they felt.
The contest boasted 17 Vietnamese, 2 Chinese, and 1 Russian contestant, and was representative of the youthful generation of women in Vietnam. The spotlight's were on, the judges were ready, the crowd was yelling, poster boards were in the air, camera's were flashing, and the film was rolling as showtime approached.
We had drama, suspense, emotion, bright lights, glamour, fashion, and glitz...and the show hadn't yet begun.
Aside from the beautiful women, there were also songs and dances performed by others, including a group of males who danced to the crowd's delight at the tunes of modern hip-hop and Michael Jackson. The contestants all showed off their confidence as they came out in blue jeans and a T-shirt, in their respective groups of four. The audience remained enthusiastic, cheering, laughing, and clapping throughout, and this, all before the final round.
The 20 contestants were cut down to only 5 after an already spectacular show. The remaining 5 were given the chance to speak to the crowd and then randomly select a judge's name to answer questions. Topics ranged from how one would introduce the traditional Vietnamese dress to the world, to living with a boyfriend before marriage, to single mom's, and even a bad side to Hanoi. There was no stone left unturned here.
Miss IS was a refreshing show of modern mixed with traditional, and a prime example of the future of Vietnam. These young women from around the world are confident, intelligent, ambitious and ready to be the next generation of women in Vietnam. All participants and contributors put on a great show.
Winner Luong Tong Anh from China was shedding tears of joy after the show. She was surrounded by people trying to take photos and could hardly speak.
Along with the runner-up Nguyen Thi Ngoc Tu and winner Luong Tong Anh, there were many other awards including Miss Intelligence Pham Ngoc Quynh and Miss Charming Pham Lan Huong.
It's safe to say that this year's Miss IS was a huge success.
