Football chairman to compete at World Entrepreneur award

Chairman of property giant, the Hoang Anh Gia Lai Group, Doan Nguyen Duc will represent Vietnam at the Ernst & Young Global Entrepreneur of the Year Award in Monaco in June 2012.

Duc is also Chairman of V-League Hoang Anh Gia Lai Football Club and the Hoang Anh Gia Lai-Arsenal JMG Football Academy.
He won the Ernst & Young Vietnam Entrepreneur of the Year Award in Hanoi on October 8 along with four other Vietnamese entrepreneurs Dang Thanh Tam, Chairman of Kinh Bac Urban Development
Corporation; Cao Thi Ngoc Dung, Chairman Phu Nhuan Jewelry Joint Stock Company; Tran Ba Duong, Chairman of the Truong Hai Auto Corporation; and Le Van Quang, Chairman the Minh Phu Seafood Corporation.
They are among the 25 most famous domestic and foreign entrepreneurs doing business in Vietnam.
This was the first time that Vietnam has hosted the Ernst & Young Global Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
Initiated by Ernst & Young, the award has been held annually in 50 countries.
Doan Nguyen Duc is also ranked 29th out of the 30 most influential executives and officials in Southeast Asia, according to Wall Street Journal. In the Southeast Asia Power List issued recently, the Wall Street Journal describes the 48-year-old Duc as one of the main players in Vietnam’s fast-growing economy. He was ranked the richest stock investor in Vietnam during 2008 and 2009, and the second richest last year.
