3D movies have been in existence since the beginnings of the 20th century.
They achieved a small momentum in 3 periods: 1930-1950-1980. But due to the lack of a standardized format and very costly equipment, the production had been limited to a certain niche in the movie industry (mostly amusement parks). Beginning the 21th century, the 3D format revolutionized all through the world and have recorded a great success since then with the releases of epic features, such as James Cameron’s Avatar.
